Hi people.  I currently have 3 domains registered with a 3rd party host.  They also host all our email services.  At the moment we are getting hit by spam relays quite badly and lots of emails are getting lost. Soooo..i am going to build an in house server.  Now i have already built 1, with just the 1 domain on it and it works a treat.

My query is this.  For each user there are 3 email addresses.  domain1.com, domain2.com and domain3.com although the server is setup primarily as domain1.com.  If i pointed all the mx records and a records for the 3 domains to my 1 IP address of my domain1.com server and added domain2.com and domain3.com to the users accounts under emails, would that work???

I would go ahead and try it but don't want to change the nameservers just yet until i know 100% that it is viable for the 1 server to host all 3 domain names for email services.

Thanks in advance for any help at all.

This article explains how to setup the exchange server to receive mail for multiple domains.

remembering that one mailbox can have multiple email addresses, with different domains, but only has one 'primary' address which is used as the sending address.

Excellent. Thanks for the quick answer. That may be a problem then, we really need to be able to send from any one of the 3 domains.
Would any of these posts be a work around? http://www.smallbizserver.net/Forums/tabid/53/forumid/11/postid/87718/view/topic/Default.aspx

Apologies, i haven't got a server up and running to check. This will be the decided factor as to whether i buy 2 SBS 2003 servers or just go for straight Server 2003 and Exchange.

Thanks again....

In fact i have just come across this post and i think it has my answer....basically it transpires that a user does not want to be able to send from 2 accounts.  They just want to be able to send from a different account (ie the second domain added)
