hi there

We just bought a company out...

Our main office CompanyA has SBS 2003 with exchange working nicely...

We just bought CompanyB and they have Windows 20003 Server without Exchange

So what i would like to do... is get my SBS Server to host all the emails...
So on the SBS box i create the users that i want to have email address...

The problem is when i go to the computers at CompanyB and try to configurate there Outlook, it doesnt work.... it cant find the host.... I tried to VPN, then configurate it and it still failed... am i doing something wrong??

Thanks

You should be able to use Outlook over HTTP to configure this.
I have done it before, and it works quite well.

Firstly, I am assuming that the 2 domains are separate and not in the same LAN?

To configure Outlook over HTTP, you need to enter in server.domainA.local (that is the other domain).
Enter the username, then open up more settings.
In the Connection tab, tick Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP, and click the Exchange Proxy settings button
URL to connect: https://externalFQDN.domainA.com
Tick Only connect to proxy servers that have this....
In the box, type: msstd:externalFQDN.domainA.com
Authentication Settings: User Basic Authentication.

You must ensure that the certificate you get when you go to https://externalFQDN.domainA.com/exchange matches externalFQDN.domainA.com.
Download and install that on the PC.

Then, when you connect Outlook, it will as for a username and password.
For the username, type in DOMAINA\username, and the password for the user.

Ok fixed the problem...
What i had to do is change the DomainB server to a different name... so they wouldnt conflict... and i also decide to tick "Hide from Exchange address list"... This also caused issues
