Hi.

I recently built a server with a trial version of SBS 2003.  I dropped the server straight onto my DMZ to get rid of any port forwarding issues.  Setup my DNS through 123Reg and everything was working fine.  Email in and out over the internet.

Now, i went out and bought a copy of SBS 2003.  Setup the server in the same fashion as last time but did not place it on the DMZ.  The server only has 1 NIC and the router has the following port forwarding setup.
TCP 443
TCP 4125
TCP 25
TCP 1723
TCP 47
TCP 21
rcd - TCP 3389
rcdudp - UDP 3389
IMAP Server - TCP 143
TCP 220
TCP 585
TCP 993
SMTP Server - TCP 25
HTTPS Server - TCP 443

I have set all the A records up and the MX record for the public IP address of my network.

Now. I can send emails fine out to other domains.  But when i try to send from another domain into this network i get               Sorry, I couldn't find a mail exchanger or IP address. (#5.4.4)

Doing an MX lookup on my domain (gammatraining.co.uk) i get
10 mail.gammatraining.co.uk 86.152.83.88 86400
which is correct, and diagnostics on this MX record shows
RESULT: mail.gammatraining.co.uk

Ok, i have been over this all day and have got nowhere.  I know its probably an error with DNS or i have set up the MX record wrong, but MX Toolbox seems to throw out the right information.

I have just sent myself an email through OWA.  Now going to try sending from another client except Outlook 2007

edit.....Just sent myself an email from Gmail.  went through ok.  I'm going to check Outlook 2007 compatibility issues with SBS 2003.

Hi Michael,

Your port forwarding isn't good. You don't need the UDP forwardings. You don't need the TCP 47. I surely hope you are not running FTP server on the SBS, so you don't need 21. What are 220, 585 and 993 used for?
Port 25 isn't listening so you might want to check if your ISP is perhaps blocking that port. 143 isn't listening either, in fact nothing seems to be listening on your public IP at this moment. Why do you have a www record setup to your public IP? Are you planning on hosting your own website?
