Graham I have a site that went live approximately three months ago (SBS R2). We rebooted the Server as part of some scheduled updates etc about four weeks ago and a bunch of emails were delivered that were sent over the preceeding weeks. There were no queues prior to the reboot, diagnostic logging is turned right up (as I do with all new Servers initially) and there are no events logged and no delay or ndr's for these messages.
The site is functioning each and every day and this is by no means my first SBS install. No third party SPAM is in place.
We had a cabling issue which dropped the external nic connection on Friday at this site and as a result the OWA and some other services stopped functioning. I ran the Internet wizard last night rather than reboot the Server to correct and again about a hundred emails not previously delayed, NDR, failed or in a queue were sent from the preceeding few weeks.
I am at a complete loss as to where these messages have come from as the users mailboxes/Outlook clients indicate they have been sent and there are no events, queues etc with these messages. The DNS and all other functions appear to be working flawlessly.
Strangely enough I had one other client who opted to rebooting their own Server (SBS Premium R1) once a week as they claim they have had a similar issue on a smaller scale from time to time but again at that site there is no smoking gun.
I would be really keen to hear if anyone has any suggestions or has experience similar issues.
