Would someone please post a bit of a walkthrough on how to set up the iPhone 3G with ActiveSync connectivity?
Also, is it absolutely necessary to purchase a trusted certificate, as opposed to using the SBS self signed certificates?

Hi Boon,

is it just email retrieval you're interested in?

If so, it's just a case of putting in the settings for the exchange server within the iPhone. Mine is accepting the self signed certificates without any problems. It took approx. 5 minutes to set up and has been working flawlessly.

if i can help further let me know

That seems to be the consensus. I'm looking for Active Sync type functionality. Email, Calendar, Contacts.
I will give it a try shortly.

I haven't got mine setup to do calendar and contacts, but my belief is it just works out of the box. for those too. I honestly haven't had any problems. Have tried it with a number of clients systems to just check it works. The only thing i wish i could do would be to set up more than 1 exchange connection.

other than that. no problems whatsoever. best of luck with it.

Apparently, you just have to insert the FQDN and login details, and it just works.
That is quite impressive.

it is. shame it took apple to show microsoft how it really just should work out of the box. they've obviously spent a great deal of time getting it right. It's not a perfect device, but i'm more than happy with mine.
Best of luck to you
