I've got a strange issue and I was hoping someone here could help.

On my SBS2003 server, the Intelligent Message Filter keeps causing the Default SMTP Virtual Server to crash.  This started over the weekend, seemingly out of the blue.  No software has been installed withing the past month or so.

The server has Exchange SP2 installed.  Here are the two messages I get in the application log of event viewer when the error occurs:

Error 1)
Event Id: 1000
Source: Microsoft Exchange Server
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Exchange Server ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: inetinfo.exe, 6.0.3790.3959, 45d69692, msexchange.ucecontentfilter.dll, 6.5.8052.0, 43cff0c0, 0, 0001e386.

Hi Scott,

Seems to me you are looking at the event logs of the server from another computer. Which AV software is running on the server and what other 3rd party programs?

I'm using remote desktop because I'm on vacation for a few weeks. The server is running Symantec Mail Security for Exchange and Endpoint 11

Hi Scott,

Depending on the release you have installed, there are known problems with that program. Please contact the website to see if you need updates.
