Our company originally purchased SBS2003 standard Ed. We now are looking into purchasing ISA 2004 to add more internet controls to our system. We basically want to limit or remove internet access for certain users in the company.

Has anyone installed ISA 2004 (Retail) to an existing SBS 2003 environment? Any issues I should be aware of? I heard that there was an upgrade from Standard to SBS premium ed, but I called and was told that there was not an upgrade path avail.. Does that sound right?

thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Roman

It's really not recommended to install the retail version on the sbs box. If you really want to add an isa server add a second server and configure this as the internet gateway.
You can upgrade from the standard version to the premium version. But calculate the cost first.

No problem. I hope you have a good solution for your project.

Maybe you can compare the cost with other security appliances, there are some good ones on the market with or without isa server!

Hi Roman,

You got the wrong answer from the person who told you that there wasn't an upgrade path from Standard to Premium, as there is. Also, only the Premium will have the special SBS ISA 2004 installer that will integrate ISA into CEICW. Do NOT install retail ISA 2004 on SBS 2003.
