Also, dont use the Wireless Service that Verizon uses....stick with Activesync... Activesync has the Push, while Wireless service requires that Outlook be open on the machine and not be using Exchange...
If I can grab my bosses after lunch I think I may try to do some screen shots and post it....there are allot of people having issues with all of this lately.... |

Yep, don't use Verizon's service. I set it up to sync over the internet. |

Yep, we have already decided that we will not be purchasing any more. The first worked like a dream for about a month, then something broke (cannot remember what) and we had to have it replaced. The replacement one seemed to work OK for a week or two until I had to mess with it to deal with the daylight savings time bug. Been down hill ever since. Makes me mad. Don't need the boss questioning if it is me or the phone screwing up when they are thinking about cutting the IT budget to save money. I'm their only IT guy.

Well, we are supposed to get a program that allows us to keep track of our projects and it utilizes mobile phones. Since we are getting 8 or so phones, I figure what is one more so that the tech guy can help out the people in the field.... (me!) I would love to be able to TS into the server from a mobile instead of waiting to get home to do it.... I was wanting the Treo....perhaps I will try to go for the XV6700 instead....I like its keyboard better...

| OK. The Treo problem was not related to the server problem. Set up the bosses replacement phone on Friday and he has used it all weekend without a problem. I did have to install the certificate twice though (don't know why). I still have no idea what to do about the ConnectComputer problem and the remote user wanting to use Outlook. |

OK. Here is an update on this problem. I just formatted and did a reload on an older desktop system before assigning it to a new user. I just ran ConnectComputer and it worked. I have no idea why the laptop still will not join and why the remote user cannot use Outlook via the internet. Going to try a couple of things and let you all know what happens.

I have had also some workstations that refused to join to a domain. As you did I also decided to put the Windows XP cd in and make a clean install. It worked immediately...don't ask me why. Sometimes technology causes unsolved mysteries. |

Yeah, I think its the images that the vendors use that hose things (Dell, HP, etc) All clean installs work better....you just need to make sure you have a full version of Windows XP to do it... (ya pay for the XP with dell, so you have the key, just need a non-vendor disk) :)

OK. I will try that here. I am wondering if I should tell the guys at the remote office to try that with the new computer that is making trouble out there. THank you.

I have also noticed one other thing on this desktop install that did work. After doing the ConnectComputer I show an icon in the tastbar that shows that the ISA server could not be found. I looked at the last computer that I loaded and joined to the domain and it is showing the same thing. I looked in my Services on the server and ISA is running (all 3 ISA Services).
I Googled it and am wondering if the MS document (http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?id=885683) is not the whole problem. It also talks about the DNS error, etc.
Is is ISA 2004 Standard Edition (not Enerprise) correct?
THanks.

Sometimes mine find it automatically, but most of the time I have to enter the info manually....Once its in there it remembers... I think it has to do about the group policy refresh... (at least I think, dont quote me on that)

Alright. I checked out a couple of older machines and found that they have the same "Cannot find ISA" thing going.

Hi Aaron,
Did you add the syntax in the Assign Apps for the Clients for the Isa firewall client 2004 as described in the readme for ISA 2004? |

No, that does not sound familiar. I will have to read that again and see if I messed up.
BTW, I did get the laptop to start ConnectComputer setup. I went into DHCP and restricted that IP address (192.168.16.13), released the laptop's IP address and renewed. It got a different address and could access ConnectComputer. I left it alone after configuring for automatic login during setup. I came back from dinner and it showed that the computer was locked with a username of _sbs_netsetup and showed the built in HP computername. I could not use any known password to login. I logged into the user account that I had created on the computer (with administrative rights). I tried to go into user accounts in control panel but could not get past HP's built in account. I have started a format and reload to try this again.
Thank you for all of your help. I really do appreciate it. I will post back here to let you know how this all works and if the remote laptop can access e-mail via Outlook with the change I did to the server last night. |

Hi Aaron,
If that laptop got stuck at the sbs_netsetup account, it hasn't finished the connectcomputer and won't. I think you do best indeed to format and reinstall that thing. |

OK. I got the lptop set up and working good in the office. I decided I would take it home and test it back outside the network. COnnected to the internet OK and I set up his Outlook to work while he is remote. The problem is that it prompts for a password. If I type in the user name DOMAIN\Username and the password then it connects. Any idea how to keep this from popping up?
