Hi,

I have an SBS 2003 Premium SP1 box with ISA 2004. 2 NICs, 1 to LAN, 1 to DSL router.  DSL router forwards relevant ports to the 2nd NIC on SBS.

Everything works fine including web browsing, Exchange SMTP, PPTP VPN access, intranet & OWA internally and externally etc.  However when I try to download a file, be it from a LAN PC client or the SBS box, it grinds to a halt after, say, 50kb.  Any ideas on this?  Seems strange to me in that it's probably not a general misconfiguration since everything else works.

Pre-SP1 I had the exact same problem, using ISA 2000.  Eventually I ended up plugging the DSL router into the LAN and reconfiguring the SBS box to use just the one NIC.  In fact I reconfigured it this way again with ISA 2004 because of the problem, but ideally I want to go with ISA and 2 NICs, with SBS sitting between the router and the LAN.

Any ideas?  Has anyone ever heard of this one before?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,
David Hartry

Did you try this: How to Delete the Web Cache on Internet Security and Acceleration Server.

Thanks Mariette,

I've now reconfigured the SBS back to using 2NICs and tried again after following te instructions to delete the cache, but the problem remains.

Hi David,

Did you upgrade from ISA 2000 to 2004? Did you remove the firewall client from the workstations and install the 2004 client?

Hi Marina,

The server is a clean install of premium edition (including ISA 2000) then SP1 applied.  In fact SP1 was applied before I even ran the Internet connection wizard, so ISA 2000 was never configured before being upgraded to 2004.

i.e. Install order:
SBS 2003
SBS Premium technologies
SBS service packs discs 1,2,3
Internet connection wizard

The clients have the 2004 firewall client.  The problem is the same on the server which hasn't got the firewall client installed.

Thanks,

Regards,
David Hartry

In addition, I have a newly installed, fully patched XP SP2 client with no other software apart from the firewall client and Outlook 2003, problem the same

Hi David,

Difficult to advise on this one. What kind of hardware are you using and how much RAM in the server? Can you also post the ipconfig/all from the server and a client?
