We need to be able to externally connect to an internal machine using SSH Telnet through ISA 2004.

I tried to create a new "Server Publishing Rule" using SSH as the protocol and the internal telnet machine's IP as the server IP address.  I setup the 'External' network as the listener.  This rule however did not work.

Any ideas how to allow such access externally from the internet??

Hi E,

Check the ISA life logging to see where it is going wrong.

Marina Roos Smallbizserver.Net AdministratorMission accomplished. We have joined the branch office to our SBS 2003 Headquarters and have the same user experience on the branch office as we have on our local  network at the Headquarters. Want to know how? Ok. When I connect to our Telnet machine internally it has an IP of 192.168.1.2 and uses port: 22. This works fine. But when I try to access the Telnet machine over the internet using our company's static IP address with port: 22 it will tell me that:

"No connection can be mad because the target machine actively refused it (TCP: 10061)"

When I check the ISA logging it shows that my computer initiated a connection with destination port: 22 and protocol: SSH. The destination IP is our company's static IP address. But then at the same time (actually at the same second) it shows that the connection has closed. So it seems that the first entry shows that the connection was opened and the next entry shows it being closed right away. That's all it does. I'm not sure why...:(

It appears that my PPPoE DSL Modem has a router built in and was blocking traffic through that port. So the data was not reaching the Win2k3 server. All work's good now...:)
