Hi,

Have been happily using Fireftp add in for Firefox as an ftp client for several months. Recently upgraded our SBS install to Premium edition and now cannot get Fireftp to connect through ISA 2004.

Has anyone been able to get this to work? Turning off the firewall allows it to work so it is definitely the problem...

Thanks in advance.

Can you connect to an FTP site using IE? If not you need to enable ISA to allow for FTP from internal to External...
Also have a look here: http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?tabid=266&articleType=ArticleView&articleId=102

Hi Michael,

Should have said I have followed the instructions to amend the SBS Internet access rule. IE does connect without problems from behind ISA.

Any ideas on how to get Fireftp working?

Thanks

Hi Glyn,

Is the ISA Firewall client installed on the workstations according the Premiuminstallsteps.htm on the PT cd?

Hi Marina,

The Firewall client is installed on the workstation.

General tab shows a tick in the enable microsoft firewall client and a dot in the manually select server. The server box has the server name in it. Clicking test server returns the same name.

Web browser tab has a tick in the enable web browser automatic configuration.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Glyn Emmett

Hi Glyn,

Good. So you also have the 'Read only' box unchecked in the ISA SBS Internet Access Rule, right? Can you turn on live logging in ISA to see what is happening? Can you try with another FTP client?

Hi,

Yes the read only box is unchecked for the SBS Internet access rule.

I have switched on the ISA Server Diagnostics and logs are being written. Whilst trying to connect using the Fireftp client I just see connecting as the status in the application. The ISA logs only contain information type entries - no errors.

From a cmd prompt on the workstation I can use FTP to connect no problem.

Thanks

Glyn Emmett

Hi Glyn,

Than it must  be something in Firefox that is not setup for that ftp client I would think. I have never even used Firefox, so I can't help you out here. Anything on the Firefox website about this?

I haven't worked with Fireftp, but I just went a few rounds with FileZilla. To get it to work I had to create a firewall exception on the workstation to open port 21 and to enable the Outbound FTP rule in ISA.
