Hello.

We run Google desktop on our Vista business PCs.

Just recently a couple of the guy's machines have stopped returning mail search results so we uninstalled and reinstalled Google desktop.

It's still not working though.

However, we cannot access the preferences page of the program as it tries to open a 127. ip address and just blocks it.

Is there any way round this?

Thanks a lot.

Technical Information (for support personnel)
Error Code 10061: Connection refused
Background: The server you are attempting to access has refused the connection with the gateway. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the server.

The '127' address is likely '127.0.0.1', which is the loopback address. It is simply refering to itself.

Try turning off the Windows Firewall on the client computer (not the firewall client).

I cannot turn the firewall off in any account unless I alter the group policy.

Would this be ok to do considering we use ISA server?

Thanks.

Hi Jonathan,

No, that is not OK to turn off the firewall domain wide. You can stop the firewall service on any computer temporarily in the services.
Please, post an ipconfig /all from the server and a workstation. Open a command prompt by opening Start -> Run from the Start Menu and type cmd. From the command prompt type ipconfig /all >ip.txt. Attach this file to your answer.

Thanks.

Stopping the firewall doesn't help.

Hi Jonathan,

It is missing the dns suffix. Uncheck the TCP/IP 6 protocol and those 2 other tunnel adapters on the vista's. Do you have the Ripcurl installed on the SBS and the Vista ISA firewall client?: The Official SBS Blog : SBS Vista Client Update (Ripcurl) Now Available: http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2007/02/09/sbs-vista-client-update-ripcurl-now-available.aspx
