hmm, i think in this case you may be better rewarded to use a path rule - using the path that yahoo messenger is installed to.

by using a path rule, does that mean i have to input each path on each client pc, let say i have 3 client pc so i have to create a path rule on each of the machine?

the path rule will block any programme from running if that programme is in the given path.

ie, if you have a path rule to block programs in c:\program files\yahoo messenger\ - then any app inside this path will not run.

if your users have been installing yahoo messenger in other paths - then you will need an additional path rule for each.

Hi Erd,

I have been studying ISA server in a bit more detail and may have found an easier solution for your problem

We can use the HTTP filter that is built into ISA to block Yahoo Messenger, based on the applications Signature.

If you are still interested in blocking yahoo messenger, post back and i will write some instruction for you.

i would greatly appreciate writing the step by step instructions, and also for the web based messenger of yahoo too if possible as they have web based which you do not have to install the messenger itself.
