I am running SBS Server 2003 Prem with a seperate Windows 2003 Server running Terminal services
everthing was running fine until I installed Isa server 2004 now the TS clients are getting the RPC (server) not available and they are unable to log on.

The SBS server is a dell Server with 2 nics
The TS server is also a Dell server with 2 nics

I created a rule to allow the DHCP requests through etc and thought that it must be a similar thing for the RPC Server, but have been unable to get it to work.

I am new to both Isa Server and DNS Server

The internal company web is working fine
I cannot browse emails over OWA

I get use remote desktop to connect to the SBS box
any help would be appreciated

you might need to disable 'strict RPC comlicance'

you need to right click every rule that includes RPC - or any rule that is ALL OUTBOUND PROTOCOLS and click configure RPC - then untick that box.

apply that and see how that goes. - there may also be one in the isa system policy - under active directory i think but try the rules first and let us know.

This may also be of help:

The ISA Server RPC filter blocks RPC traffic after Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 is installed on a computer that is running ISA Server 2004 or ISA Server 2000:

Aggghhhhh that dam RPC server not available is back again
I have unticked all the RPC protocol boxes and it worked great for 2 days now its back to the same error for all terminal server users.
all the service packs have been installed on the SBS server including the isa server updates
if I stop the isa server control service then re-start the routing and remote access the users can then log in and the isa services re-start.

The event id on the terminal server is 1219 source Winlogon

any help would be appreciated

Yes no problem
We have 2 dell servers 1 running sbs2003 prem with isa server 2004 installed( only just install the isa server though) the other server is running windows server 2003 and is being used as a terminal server

the sbs is the Domain Controller
users connect via remote desktop to the terminal server on a fixed ip address on a broadband connection which is connected to the internal network via a netgear gigabit switch

the local network and exchange has another broadband connection to run web browsing and company email both servers  have 2 nics

regards
mike

is access to the terminal server given through isa server -

if i understand your setup correctly - you have 2 broadband lines, one used for web browsing and email and one used for accessing the terminal server.

where is isa in that config please?

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean

the isa server is part of the Small Business server and so is on the SBS2003 prem box

access to the terminal server is via the terminal server and then authenicated by the SBS server (allow log on to terminal server) as set in the users details

the users log on to the terminal server (log on to domain)

is that what you mean?

Thanks

Mike

not really no,

is the terminal server accessed through the second broadband line?

does the isa server control the second broadband line?

Yes they connect through the 2nd connection
isa server does not control that line
