Hello

I've just installed ISA 2004 SP3 on SBS 2003 R2 SP2. The client's are using firewall client. Users can browse the internet with no problems, but can't ping any websites.

Ping local server from client - Success.
Ping intranet website - Success.
Ping external website - Times out.
nslookup www.website.com - Success.
tracert www.website.com - Time out.
Browse external webistes and internal companyweb - Success.

The setup is working fine, I just want to know why I can't ping or tracert from clients.

Many thanks.

Jens,

This is by design. ISA 2004 will block all outgoing ICMP traffic from the internal network.

You will probably find that you can still ping websites from the server itself.

If your clients need to be able to ping websites you will need to set up a rule in ISA to allow ICMP traffic from the Internal network to the External network.

Hy guys,

I seem to sam kind of problem.
On one of our Vista clients the internet is not discovered in the network map.
Internet is working fine however. It's just anoying to constantly see this red cross.

Some research revealed the ping request from Vista is blocked by ISA.

Someone knows how to setup this ICMP filter on ISA??

Thanks,
Arno
