Hello
I can view the web page to make setting changes, but I am unable to view the media stream.
The stream was viewable before the ISA server was installed.
Anyone know how to get the media stream to not to be viewable again.
If it matters the stream initiates and Active X client apon first attempt to view the stream.
I was able view the stream either directly or through the Linksys supply viewer, now niether method works to view the steam.
Let me know if you have any ideas.
Thanks, Joe

Does the streaming video require authentication? If so, in IE, make sure that in the security settings you change 'Automatic logon only in Intranet zone' to 'Automatic logon with current user name and password'. Then, if the stream is using Windows Media Player, make sure that it's configured to use the Proxy Server. To do that: Open Windows Media Player > Tools > Options > Network Tab Check the Box for MMS URL's to use RTSP (all three boxes) Under the Streaming Proxy Settings Configure both HTTP and RTSP to use your ISA Proxy Server IP and port. |

Hello Jeff,
Thanks for the advice.
Unfortunately, it does not solve my problem. I found that on some of the clients Media player is not even installed. However, I did install it on one client, and made the above setting changes, but not luck.
Just to set the backgound. I have called Linksys about this issue, and the tech support center, informed me that they did not know what ISA server was, and that if it was a firewall, I just needed to make sure the port was open.
They told me I needed port 1024, but I believe this is only needed if I want to publish the camera's video stream on the internet, with their paid for access service, which is not want we want. We only want the camera's accessable from the intranet, no access from the internet is required.
There are 3 camera used for security, and they all worked perfectly until the ISA server was installed so that an FTP site could be set up with better security, per the advice from the article located on this site. Now the video stream can not be viewed any where, however, we can connect to each of the camera to make sure that the settings are correct via IE. No setting on the cameras have change since before the ISA server was installed on the SBS.
Let me know if you have some other ideas.
Thanks,
Joe

have you tried running a logging session to see if isa is blocking any traffic to the linksys box - or have you tried 'bypass proxy for local addresses'? and speceyfying the linksys device as local? are you using the firewall client? |

Hello Robert,
I am new to ISA, how do i run a logging session? I have been looking for a good guide, but to date have not found such a document to help learn the ISA product. Any suggested reading?
The network has McAfee Total Protection Suite running on it, and that includes HIP 6, plus that standard XP SP2 firewall.
This was the case before ISA was installed and the cameras were working without issue. After ISA was installed then the media system become un viewable. No changes were made to the clients except to install the ISA firewall client on each client to reenable internet access to the clients.
I have not tryied "bypass proxy for local addresses" where is that option. the cameras are 192.168.16. 11, 12, and 13.
Where do I need to specifiy the camera as "local"?
Any additional help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

i would reccomend the ISA Self Paced Training Kit, and maybe the Pocket Consultant - both on Microsoft Press. As for the logging - open up ISA Management, expand servername, go to monitoring, then in the details pane the last tab is logging- here you can set filters to show different traffic, click on start query and this will show you all the traffic passing through ISA. |

Sorry for the delayed response. I can only find time to work this issue on the weekends.
Thank you for the advice Robert.
I am attaching the log file filter for only to camera IP as the desination.
I do not see anything that is being block. Can you look at it and let me know if you see something I am missing?

| do you have cacheing enabled? probably not. not really sure what to suggest - couldnt see anything glaringly obvious in that log (though it is early) ill need to reread the thread and remember what the problem is :)

Let me know.
Thanks,

i mean was the ISA server caching any requests- but this is somthing you would have had to switch on. The only thing i really gained from looking at that log is that the traffic to the Linksys device doesnt appear to match any rule you may have created for it. you might try creating a server publishing rule and publishing the IP of the device, or even a web publishing rule again with the IP of that device. if you try to access this device without going through the proxy, internet explorer, tools, advanced, connections, lan settings, untick use a proxy, - does it work then? if it does, tick the box to use a proxy again, and then add the device to list of address to bypass the proxy, |
