Hello,

Have built SBS 2003 to Standard w 2 nics, run the ICW and have everything working well, ie browsing , email etc.

When I put in Prem Tech disk one to install ISA 2004 I get an error 3/4 way through install that ISA 2004 cannot install.

Microsoft Partner support are baffled and we're now going around in circles, but I've seen this post that looks exactly what I'm experiencing but there doesnt seem to be a resolution.

The error is attached plus some of the things I've worked through with MS.

Things I've tried :

1. Ive tried the ISA 2004 manual install from the Prem disk ... it asks for a ISA 2004 product key !
2. I've tried the normal install it gived the error message I sent a jpg of.
3. I've looked at the registry settings as stepped out in the article sent.
4. I've run msconfig and stopped startup programs but it still fails.
5. I've fully removed all AV and anti-spam to the point the server has no protection.
6. We've removed the Novell Client. - On there due to migration.
7. We've tried different sets of physical media (Disk 1 Premium Technologies

I've done alot of SBS installs over the years but have never seen this happen... BTW the server runs peachy as "Standard" but the clients paid for Prem and I like my ISA.

Any help appreciated

Hmmm ... cant attach errors with Invalid file type or file exceeds max size (100kb) ... it's a doc file and a gif ?

Hello,

Yes read all 3 pages  ... missed the "suggestion 2" bit but still to no avail as that was one of the first steps I tried with Microsoft Support.

Cheers

Sean - have you tried a variation of suggestion 2 - ie install MS_FPC_SERVER.MSI then do a repair of ISA2004? This has always worked for me!

Hello

When I try to install ISA via MS_FPC_Server.msi it asks me for an ISA 2004 product key ??? ... this is what has everyone baffled.

I can see from other reports \ blogs that this process has worked for others and was one of the first things I tried with MS support.

Cheers

Hello

Error message wise there isnt much to see except ISA stating :

"the wizard cannont install ISA 2004, try installing again and restarting the wizard if the problem persists go to ..."

Being doing some more research and within the ISAFW install logs it's reporting that it will not install as it cannot find the product code :

APPCOMPAT: looking for appcompat database entry with ProductCode '{0AC95D97-1B75-4AC7-B061-F21E379FF809}'.
APPCOMPAT: no matching ProductCode found in database.

Property(C): ProblemMessage = Incorrect product key
=== Logging stopped: 29/11/2007  16:07:35 ===
MSI (c) (A88) ⎜:07:35:420]: Note: 1: 1708
MSI (c) (A88) ⎜:07:35:420]: Product: Microsoft ISA Server 2004 -- Installation operation failed.

I believe that this is the reason why it doesnt install but as to why or how to fix ??

When I do a manual install of ISA 2004 it asks for a Product Code (this is not normal) , using the SBS 2003 RC2 Prem key is not accepted.

Now I've read that somehow Performance counter Db can effect this but that fix didnt fix this issue.

Hello Robert

Yes on SP2

I havent seached the reg for the key yet will try that.

Also havent installed r2 disk either .... not sure if this would make a difference.

The server is in production working well as "Std" to buy some time I need to fix an FTP issue with some software on a workstation that goes out on 21 and in on 20. Opened ports on the router and the "Std" firewall  in SBS but no joy on the client for either 21 or 20 but the server itself looks ok. Prob a limitation with SBS "Std" firewall .
