I want to uninstall ISA firewall client from 45 machines, I was thinking about using a script to do this. Is there an easier way to do this? I don't have any scripting experience, is there anyway you can help me get this script started? I know how to remove it I just don’t want to go to all the machines and remove it like that. That would way to long.

Hi Rico,

If i were installing the client to 45 machines, i would do it via group policy - or the sbs assign applications wizard.

The advantage of installing via group policy is that you can set the behaviour so that if the client no longer falls under the scope of the policy, the application is removed, so the unisntall would be very simple. Im not sure if the assign applications wizard is also capable of uninstalling apps.

http://blogs.isaserver.org/shinder/2006/03/04/rolling-out-upgrade-from-isa-2000-to-isa-2004-firewall-client/

this link shows the cmd line to uninstall the isa 2000 client - might be worth a go to see if it also uninstalls the 2004 client (i dont see why it shouldnt)

alternativley i would be inclined to setup the installation of the 2004 cleint by gpo - do a few reboots/gpupdate on a client pc (test case) to get the policy applied, then move the client to a new ou so the policy is no longer applied and see if the fwclient is removed.

im really not sure if that would work as the fwclient was there previously, however i think it is worth a try if it saves you manually uninstalling 45 clients!

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838122 this article explains how to setup the fwclient ot install via gpo.

good luck.
