Hi all, I have SBS Premium 2003 with ISA installed.

The default settings are in tact and yet, clients cannot access the internet. Nor access external pop and smtp? The server was setup following http://www.smallbizserver.net/Articles/tabid/266/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/76/Two-Nics-a-static-IP-address-ISA-router.aspx with pretty much the same address information.
Is there something I am missing. I have logged into clients with both admin and User Templated usernames. On the User Template, "Internet Users" is one of the membership items.
On the SBS server I can access the internet just fine.
When I try to access on the client machines,"Error Code: 403 Forbidden. The ISA Server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). "

I get denied for pop3/smtp account access too

Please Help!

Usually when that has happened to me it is because either the ISA rule for internet access is not configured correctly or else perhaps the ISA Firewall Client is not running on the clients.

So 1st, is the Firewall Client running on the clients and does it find the ISA server under test?

2nd, go to ISA Server management and look under Firewall Policy, for the 2nd to last rule "SBS Internet Access Rule". If you don't have it you need to create it. The settings would be as follows:

action: allow
protocols: all outbound traffic
from: all protected networks
to: external
users: SBS Internet users (some use "all users")
schedule: always
content type: all

Check your situation on these.

If the ISA install went without a problem, that rule should already be in place.

John, did you follow the PremiumInstallSteps.htm on the PT cd and add the ISA firewall client to the Client Assigned Applications with the syntax that is provided in the readme?

Marina Roos Smallbizserver.Net AdministratorMission accomplished. We have joined the branch office to our SBS 2003 Headquarters and have the same user experience on the branch office as we have on our local  network at the Headquarters. Want to know how? I think what has happened is that the ISA didnt install correctly, because I was getting a MMC bug when accessing certain fields in the ISA console. I reinstalled and updated it to SP3 and it went fine after that.
