I recently had a (very rocky) installation of ISA 2004. I suspect this is related to the problem I now have, which is that all of my pop3 mail boxes fail with the following information :
"The error is 10061 (No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."

The email had been fine prior to this install, which is why I suspect it is the problem. I did run the "Publish Mail Server" in the firewall section of ISA.

Any wisom would make my day.

Have you rerun the CEICW wizard and selected the correct settings?

Yes. The first time I ran the wizard, it failed on configuring the firewall, but then I ran it again and it worked. My email worked before, and I chose the same settings as last time.

On further investigation, Exchange is a wreck. The SMTP server keeps shutting down. Several of the supporting services are listed as "Stopped", but when I try to start them the status doesn't change. Further, IIS constantly shuts down.

Could I, perhaps, shut down or uninstall ISA 2004 and analyze my situation a bit more to get out of my current mess? I've read that some things have to change to get ISA 2004 and Exchange to live in harmony, but I don't know what those things are.

Thank you.

I may have to submit a request for paid support. I can't seem to keep IIS running, and only portions of Exchange seem to work. Whenever I try to tweak something, numerous services fail, and I have to reboot the server. If you have some ideas, I'd love to hear them, but this is clearly a complicated issue.

Thanks.
