Hello to all!  Apologies if this is posted in the wrong area, I couldn't find a "General" forum...

First let me introduce myself...  by day I'm a lowly Desktop Support engineer (and have been for 7 years now), but I've picked up some other small skills along the way so I'm not totally limited to that role...

Having said that, I've been asked by my father-in-law to look after his SBS, which has been around for a while now and currently has a couple of relatively serious problems - needless to say I feel a little out of my depth.

I've read through the FAQ/posting guide and the rules seem quite strict, and to be honest it's put me off posting for some time now as I don't want to upset anyone.  But I've reached the point where I don't know what to do and really need some expert advice.

Do you think it would be ok to offer my explanation of the problems as best I can, and fill in the gaps later?  Only I don't know what information is needed and I'd be better at answering specific questions once we get going...

Please feel free to let me know your thoughts, both good & bad!

hi marc.

generally we need things like, an ipconfig /all from the server, and a client machine.

as detailed a description of any particular problem, including any relevant event id's from event logs, error messages where the problem occurs etc.

Ok - I'd better start a new thread with a more specific title, I guess?
