Hello,

Please could someone help with the following issue:

A windows xpsp2 PC is on a local office lan behind a sbs2000 server.

The sbs2000 server has a rule to allow all traffic for the range of local ip's that the PC is on.

The PC needs to connect to an external sbs2003 server to access files

The PC's vpn connects and authenticates to the sbs2003 ok.

Exactly after 3 minutes, in the middle of activity, the vpn disconnects and the user has to reconnect again.

All other external users from home are able to connect to the sbs2003 server without disconnection.

I have tried the vpn connection on the sbs2000 server to the sbs2003 server and that also disconnects after exactly 3 minutes.

I can only assume that the sbs2000 isa firewall is causing this issue.

Advanced thanks for anyone that can resolve or spread some light on this issue

Thank you

This is probably because some other router causes the VPN to fail. What devices do you use for Internet access?

Hello Mariette,

Thank you for your reply.

Internet access is provided for the whole building which various companies use. We are given a public ip address range to use and a lan socket. I do not know what equipment is on the other end of the lan socket. I am able to vpn to the sbs2000 server from home without problems.

Thanks again
