We have been running SBS 2000 for five years.  Last week, the machine locked up and failed to reboot.  Dell Tech Support recommended reinstalling the OS.  Perhaps foolishly, I followed it.

I now have a working SBS server, but I am getting frequent messages that we are reaching our maximum licenses (we have 9 client machines on site).  I have tried to reapply my upgrade CAL floppies, but keep getting the message that they have already been used and that I need to contact Microsoft Tech Support if I want to reactivate them.

The problem is that no one at Microsoft Tech Support seems to know what I'm talking about.  I've been passed from department to department (licensing, activation, etc.).  The closest that I've been to a resolution was an offer to have a tech work on my problem for $259!

I've seen messages on this forum that reactivation is quick, easy, and FREE.  Does anyone have a phone number or know the magic words that will the "customer service representative" to connect me to the right department?

Any help that you can offer would be _GREATLY_ appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Did you have a good look at the complete error message? If I remember right, it should offer you the phone number to dial. Just be persistent. And else just go for the credit card charge, which should be reimbursed after you finally have found the proper MS engineer.
