Hi everybody.
I have several queries regarding Small Business Server(SBS) 2000 AND Outlook 2003 (on XP clients) with Mail Exchange 2000.
  1. SBS 2000 - Want to delete all old users (ex-staff) and associated files from the server. What is the exact process for doing this?
  2. We also want to delete their user names/email addresses from Mail exchange but keep their email addresses as aliases for the appropriate current staff member. How do we delete their names & associated email addresses from mail exchange? Do we have to delete the user completely from SBS 2000 first?
  3. Shared Calendar & Shared Contacts - How do I get the shared calendar/contacts folders to show in favourites of Outlook in the top right hand pane? Can this be done somehow from ME or SBS as a profile?)
  4. Shared Calendar - Is possible to allocate colours to staff members rather than by item? If so how?
  5. Following on from this - another staff member moved contacts from an ex-staff contacts to the new staff contacts. This works OK until the new staff member has to email contact details (or change something) and error message says "you do not have permission to ......". How do we give permission to current user for "old" contacts entered by ex-staff member. (Yes could export & then import but it is a lot of effort due to the folder structure of the current contacts folder.)

Hi Lionel,

Please keep in mind that SBS 2000 is running out of support very soon (or maybe already has), so it is really time to upgrade to SBS 2003.
Deleting a user in the SBS Console, will probably also delete the Exchange mailbox, but I think it will ask you for confirmation. When the user has been deleted, you can add those email addresses to another user.
To share a calendar and/or contacts, you have to do that on the workstation in Outlook. You can also drag it to the favourite folder there.

Thanks Maria.

I have deleted the user but I cannot seem to delete the user's mailbox. I have used the help menu to show tell me how & when I go to the actual mailbox & it is showing over 9mb of mail.

I have other users that I want to delete as well.

Cheers
