I've had a couple of small issues using Vista to TS into a remote SBS.

On connecting RDC, I get a warning that the remote system is running an OS older that Vista. Clicking OK to that doesn't seem to hurt. Then when I log in to the remote server, it attempts to log in as \remote IP\username, then times out so I can enter the correct username. Is there a way I can fix this?

Yeah, check options then advanced there you can configure the warnings.

For that login as, in Vista, you need to log in this way IE smallbizserver.net\Administrator and the password.

Maybe a "feature" from Microsoft... you get used to it after a while...

Good link, thanks Stan

Any idea how to stop the "domain" being put in front the username on login to the remote server? I keep getting a login of "internet_IP\username" which fails, I can then edit the username correctly.

Someone might jump in here with a better idea, but the only way I know of would be to delete that RDP connector and create a new one. First login with a new one ask for credentials again. And that is what it saves.

OK Nick, I think I have an answer for your "domain" issue. On the "General" screen there is an option to delete the credentials. Do that. Then connect. It will ask you for your credentials. Put in the proper domainname\username then the password. It should change the incorrect domain name to the one you just now put in. click on remember or save or whatever it is to save the credentials at that point. Anyway, putting in the domain name right with the user name is supposed to fix it so it goes to the new domain. Here ~ down in the section called "Can’t change domain name when running Vista Remote Desktop Connection client. "

That's great thanks!

TS is now working fine. I appreciate your help.

Nick
