Hi All,
New laptop arrived with Vista Business and I decided to give it a chance.
Got everything up and running thanks mainly to this forum.

My Documents were re-directed, user permissions fine etc, so I put it in production yesterday.

The user has an existing Excel doc that he updates daily. When he tried to save today he got this error.

"The changes could not be saved to 'Sales 2007.xls' but were saved to a temporary document named 'F469F000'. Close the existing document, then open the temporary document and save it under a new name. OK"

Note there is no filename extension for the temporary file, and the existing doc closed on 'OK' and is not in his My Documents.

I opened the temporary file and got the same error on trying to save, just another filename 889D1100.
Tried a new Excel file, got the same, Tried a Word doc and saved with no problem.

The only change is Vista.

Has anyone got any clue why....
THE SALES MANAGER CAN'T SAVE HIS SALES FIGURES.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks
Patrick

Right click on the original document, go to properties and see if the read only tick mark is there. Only thing I can think of now.  On the verge of ordering new Thinkpads with Vista on but I think I'll hold back a bit

Thanks Jack,
Thats the identical error, but the cause doesn't quite fit. No need for anything Macintosh here and remember I tried a new Excel file, got the same, Tried a Word doc and saved with no problem.
So maybe there is a Excel 2000 compatibility problem. I don't know
Thought I was through the Vista project

Thanks again

I've seen this before, try saving a attachment in Oulook and see if it hangs
