Hi,

I added two Vista clients to an SBS2003 Premium network and was surprised to find that folder redirection of the client's documents folder to their User folder on the server actually caused the folder on the server to be renamed.

For example, consider user FredB who had a folder on the server called \Users\FredB.

After redirecting from Vista, that server folder is now called \Users\Documents

And since I setup two Vista clients, there are two server folders called \Users\Documents

But the server still remembers what the original folder name was because if you access it from the server console (i.e. actually enter the folder) using Windows Explorer, it displays the path as "..\Users\FredB" even though going up one level in WIndows Explorer, it still displays "..\Users\Documnets".

So with 20 users all with server folders at the same level called "Documents" things will be rather confusing.

Or have I done something wrong?

I'm having exactly the same problem on full-blown Windows 2003. I'm astonished no-one else has noticed this issue!

Hi,

There is now a solution to this.

Go into the affected home folder and delete the desktop.ini file. The folder will immediately revert to its proper name.

Thanks
