I am completely stumped on this one.....

 

How can I access the vista machine's event logs remotely from other computers (XP/Vista/sbs 2003)?  The remote registry service is activated on all the machines via group policies on my sbs2003.  I can access the event logs on my sbs2003 via any machines on the network.

 

But when I tried to access the event logs on my vista machines remotely, the event viewer always complaints that rpc is unavailable.....

 

Please help.

 

PS.  I can access the services on the vista machines remotely, if that helps....

Update:  The problem seems to only exist on Vista machines trying to access another Vista machines event logs remotely.  I can access vista machine event logs remotely via XP and 2003 machines......

Fixed.  vista's firewall default to block remote management on the machines.  So I went into the gpmc in Vista to create a domain vista firewall policy, enabling remote management and remote even logs and every thing is fine now.....
