I must be going Mad,

I thought I put this question up, and even got a response 2 days ago, to find the whole thread gone today....
If the thread is still here, then please be kind enough to point me to it, as I cannot find it. Thanks

OK,

SBS2003Premium with the official SP1 disk installed and completed - other than fax, we are running fine - SBS2003 SP1 is installed.
No errors about faxes in the event logs.
The problem I am having is that the system does not answer faxes, so when I go into server management->fax (local), I get an error:
--
Could not open a connection to the fax service.
The Fax service may not be started, or the computer name might be incorrect
--
So, I click on server management->fax (local)->Configure Fax Services to get told:
--
    Fax Configuration Wizard
One or more files are missing or corrupt, you will need to reinstall the Small Business Server Tools to correct
    this problem
--
At which point, I put in SBS2003 premium Disk 1 and run the install program, to get told that I cannot downgrade (because of SP1) and that I either need to remove SP1, or get an updated program.

Now, the microsoft supplied SP1 disks do not have this installation routine, is there any suggestions?

TIA

Allen

You need to extract all files from SP1 and point to the CD3 directory when you reinstall fax services.

I have the 2 CD MS Action Pack SP1. After installing SBS2003 standard install with swing migration, the shared fax service would not start with the same error.

How do I extract the files and reinstall?

All:

I have the same problem on SBS 2003 R2.

I installed a fax modem in my server and am trying to configure the shared fax components. I have followed the instructions for re-installation of the server tools from my original CD's and get an error about permissions on the fax operators group right at the end of the installation.

HELP!!

Hi John,

Did you choose the maintenance mode at the select options screen and then choose the Fax option to be reinstalled?
