Hi everyone,
I have an SBS2003 Server(standard) and today I wanted to setup WSUS.
(So there is no ISA, just 2 NICs and Internet-connection works fine ...)

So first thing I did, was snychronzie the wsus-database ... which apparently worked, because I could see the progress go slowly from 1% to 100%.

Also I could see the file "SUSDB.mdf" (in the WsusDatabase-folder) grow up to a size of approx. 1GB
In my designated WSUS-folder(E:\daten\WSUS)  I could also see a bunch of folders appear inside the WsusContent-folder, but actually all of these folders only contain 1 or 2 txt-files. The overall size of the WsusContent folder is ~ 6MB

The UpdateServicesPackages-folder is still empty

Can anyone tell me, whether this looks normal, or did I miss out on something ?
I had rather expected ~5 - 10GB of data being downloaded to be able to offer all service-packs and patches ...

Looking forward to your answers,
Manfred.

Hmmm ... but where does WSUS store all the potential updates, that the clients are supposed to download locally ??

In one of my books about SBS2003 it is mentioned, that there might be about 10GB or even more downloaded when first syncing the wsus-database.

Still a bit confused ...
Manfred.

Hi Manfred,

It stores them in the WSUSContent folder. Did you configure WSUS yet though? Did you select the products and sort of updates it should auto approve?
