Hi,

Please, run the SBS BPA first to see if all MSDE instances are up to SP4. Then try to install those updates again, and post the complete errors if you get them.

I am having the same issues with KB 948110..my SBS BPA looks like this and it appears all SQL2K instances are upgraded. Where where will the KBxxxxx.log be? The OS patches are typically in C:\WINDOWS

Hi Chris,

What issue are you having? Does the BPA show any warnings or critical issues? The SQL patches will have the kb number in its name, but are not starting with the KB, as those are only for the Windows updates. So those logs will start with SQL or something like that.

Hi Marina,

The problem I am having is that on my SBS 2003 R2 server the Windows Update icon is showing and prompting me to install KB948110. Each time I run the install it fails and ends up staying in the systray.

I found the install log SQL2000-KB948110-v8.00.2050-x86-ENU.log - thanks. Unfortunately it is hard to make any sense of it so I don't know what's causing teh install to not complete.

Same problem here. No warnings in SBS BPA and only these errors:

Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB948110)
Security Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 (KB948109)

I am stuck is this a problem for future updates ?

Guys,

Without exact error messages from the eventlog or the install log, I can't do anything for you. Please check this blog out The Official SBS Blog : Cannot Access CompanyWeb After Installing 948110: http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2008/07/11/cannot-access-company-web-after-installing-948110.aspx or call Microsoft PSS telling them you have a problem with a security patch.

I am managed to fix my SBS - I found it was failing because my SBSMONITORING instance was disabled. The way I found that was to run MBSA which pointed me to directly to the update required here.

When I ran that it gave me the GUI option to run it against each instance and then that's when it became clear:

Same problem here although I guess mine was disabled because I hadn't run the Monitoring Configuration Wizard - once I had, the update installed
