I'm after a good external drive which i can do backups to, what do you guys think i should look into getting?

La Clie Ethernet Disk , Pick your capacity and off you go.They are very well priced and are just rebadged maxtor drives.

Sunny, can I suggest you use 2.5" notebook drives for your external drives instead of 3.5" desktop drives. The notebook drives are much more robust, even if a little more expensive.

Just use TWO inexpensive usb external harddisks. Calculate your size (mostly one week)
Swap this device each day before running backup.
Now you can store backup offsite and have a backup (one day older) when your other backup disk would crash.
