Stuck taking over the implementation of an SBS2K3 R2 server...they had also purchased Symantec BE.  I downloaded the latest..and it's giving a pre-install check of...

"An older version of SQL Server has been detected on this machine.  The older version
may not be selected to use with Backup Exec.  Instead, choose to install a new SQL Express instance
or choose an existing SQL Server 2000 (SP3a or later) instance during
the installation

*Instance SBSMonitoring, version 2000SP 4
*Instance Sharepoint, version 2000SP 4
*Instance WSUS, version 2000SP 4"

Hmmm....recommendations?

i had this, i just ignored it because i gathred that it was saying that these instances were no good to install the backup exec database to, and that it would intall its own msde.

So you let it install the newer 2005?

I did that...things seem odd now with the native ones on 2000.
