Hi all,

Have a sever where the NTBackup file is continually 'corrupt and unusable' and I am looking for  an alternative that would alow me to restore system state and Exchange quickly. Any suggestions?

What problems do you have?

when you catalogue the file you get a message 'Unrecognized Media' - The backup file contains unrecognized data and cannot be used.

I am backing up to external USB Drives which appear to be healthy. The backup files themselves are 108Gb in size - would this be a problem?

Is that drive NTFS formatted?

Hi Mariette,

I can confirm that the drive is NTFS formatted. I have seen this before and although I have found no documentation to support, I have found that when I reduce the amount of data to be backed up that the error goes away (maybe anecdotal).

If you copy that file to a fixed hard drive and then catalogue it can you see if that works?
