We have received a batch of HP ML350 G5 servers with SATA DVD drives.  Sounds ordinary enough except these server fail to detect the DVD drive after a reboot.  They are OK after a full powerdown.

We have installed the latest bios but still the problem persists.  Spoke to HP and they didn't seem to be aware of the problem.  Fingers crossed they come back with a solution soon.  Oh, and there is no ide on these servers so you can't swap the drive.

is there a mode to change the sata operation mode? This sounds like a bios reset issue.

No fix yet from HP.  Last we heard from them they were trying to find a sata dvd drive to recreate the problem.

Once I get some kind of response from HP I will post.
