Here is a message that an external sender receives when trying to send through.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
  postmaster@enterprisetax.biz
SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO :<postmaster@enterprisetax.biz>:
    host mail.enterprisetax.biz 𖑃.185.231.137]:
    550 5.1.1 User unknown
Yet when we have tried to email through to administrator account it goes through.

Does anyone have any ideas?
I have gone through exchange system manager and ther must be something that I am missing, but can't see it.

To add a bit more info, we had to rebuild our Domain & exchange server, but in doing this there seems to be something missing for all emails to work.

Thanks

Cheers

hi Paul

It seems there is no account with the postmaster@ alias.  You can check this in Active Directory Users and Computers.  This is normaly the administrator account.  So check the properties of Administrator - e-mail addresses It should have postmaster@ listed.  If not add it in.

Thanks Steve,

But unfortunately this is an alias of the administrator account.

When I posted the question yesterday I used the postmaster example instead of using one of the users. The problem I am expereincing is wiht all users, and they are all legitmate users.

the problem has only occured since we have had to rebuild the AD/Exchange server, I am wondering if there is something I have missed that is related to exchange but the setting is somewhere else?

Thanks

Cheers

Hi Paul,

How exactly did you rebuild the AD and Exchange and how did you restore the former Exchange databases?

Hi Marina,

The AD & Exchange was rebuilt completely as a new system, we restored the exchange by taking it off line and restoring using Backup Exec V10.

The reason why we built the system this way was due all new hardware having been used, as well as having a Terminal server attached.

Our problem is still not resolved, and we are now at a stage of bringing in someone to assist.

Thankyou though for your concern.

Cheers

Hi Paul,

Well, there are easier ways to restore an AD domain. From using the SBS  Backup and restore to a Swing Migration which keeps all the AD accounts intact. Keep us posted please.

I am having a strange issue with all my email accounts in my domain. It just happened for no apparent reason last night and I've never seen anything like this before. Can anyone help? I tried contacting the webhost but they are taking ages to respond. Pls help! Thanks heaps.

I get this error message for all email accounts that I try to email to.

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

Hi Sinma,

Is goodco.jp your domain or the domain you are trying to send email to?

I was trying to send to goodco.jp
I have no idea how this happens in the first place. Even though my emails I tired to send were rejected but I also realize somehow some emails get delivered and I can't identify anything special about those senders. I am absolutely bewildered

Strange.

Hi Sinma,

To me it seems that the goodco.jp domain is having some problems. Not much that you can do about.
