Hi Marina

First of all thank you for prompt response.  I am still unclear as to what configuration i have to do ensure that all the print services , Internet and email ( SMTP) is working correctly. Recently one of my clinet has been flooded with Virus and two machines went down and now I am seriously thinking of implementing ISA2004 to protect them. I thought Forefront security for Exchnage will help but it will only work on Exchange 2007 not 2003 R2.

I am not expert in ISA 2004 and hence I am asking all those questions. I have seen various documents on ISA2004 relating to different area's but I was unable to locate a document which will help me to configure ISA2004 from start.

Can you please help.

if you have sbs premium - install isa off of the disc and during the install it will run ceicw which will configure isa for you.

generally there isnt much to do within isa itself unless you want to do somthing a bit different.

dont purchase the full retail version of isa as this will not work as well - the sbs premium version is modified to run with sbs.

I have tried that , but after installing ISA 2004 , it blocks all the internal and external traffic. It seems to me it is blocking TCP/IP services. but I cannot locate that.

How many rules are listed in ISA? Do you see rules with SBS in the name?

I can see 3 rules
 
SBS localhost DHCP Access Rule   that is allowed.
SBS Protected Networks Access Rule  That is allowed
Local Default rule   That is Deny  and that is dedicated to all Traffic. I have tried to change , but the properties is greyed out and I cannot chnage from Deny to Allow.

I am bit confused what the actual question is. If you need to do some default configuration on a ISA 2004 on a SBS you only need to run the CEICW. What do you want to do?

You ask me as to how many rules I can see. that is waht I ahve mentioned in my previous reply.
 
At present I can see 3 rules one of for internal traffic is denied.
 
I hope this will make some sense.

Can you run the wizard and make sure it completes without errors? After that check how many rules are listed in ISA.

you cant edit the default rule- this is by design.

if you want to allow access either run the ceicw wizard or create your own manual rules.
